Embracing Self-Care: A Message for Christian Women

Dear Beloved Sisters in Christ,

I have a message for you, and it's a message I've had to learn the hard way. Self-care is not selfish. Repeat it with me: "Self-care is not selfish."

As Christian women warriors of light, we often find ourselves serving others, putting their needs before our own, and neglecting our well-being. We feel it's our duty to be selfless, loving, and giving. And while these qualities are indeed virtuous, we must remember that we are worth taking care of.

I want to share a story with you, a story that's deeply rooted in God's Word, because His wisdom guides us in all aspects of life. In the book of Mark, Jesus says, "Love your neighbor as yourself" (Mark 12:31). Notice that He doesn't say, "Love your neighbor instead of yourself." He emphasizes the importance of self-love and self-care as a foundation for loving others.

Let me take you to another passage, Psalm 139:14: "I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made." Sisters, you are fearfully and wonderfully made by our Creator. Your body, your mind, your spirit – they are all God's precious handiwork. It is okay to take time to take care of yourself, for God loves you just as you are, and He wants you to cherish His creation, which includes you.

You are God's beloved daughter, and as any loving parent would want the best for their child, God desires the very best for you. Imagine God whispering in your ear, "I love you. You are my beloved child. Take care of yourself as an expression of love for the masterpiece that I've created."

Self-care extends to every facet of your being – mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Just as we care for our spiritual growth through prayer and reading God's Word, we must care for our mental health by seeking peace and clarity, our physical health by nurturing our bodies, and our emotional health by acknowledging our feelings and seeking support when needed.

My dear sisters, I encourage you to make self-care a part of your daily routine. Take a moment to reflect on your worth as a child of God. Remember, Jesus took time for solitude and prayer during His ministry. He recognized the importance of recharging and seeking the Father's guidance.

Self-care is an act of self-love, and through self-love, we become better equipped to love and serve others. So, repeat after me:

"Self-care is not selfish. I am worth taking care of. It is okay to take time to take care of me. God loves me. I am His daughter. I love and take care of myself mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually."

May you find peace and strength in embracing self-care and nurturing your God-given worth. You are a radiant light in this world, and by caring for yourself, you shine even brighter for His glory.

With love and blessings,

Tamara
